Here Are Your 2018 Emmy Nominees

Above: The official telecast will air in September

Awards season may be far down the road, but thanks to the quality programming being produced right now, projects on both the small and big screens are already getting some major buzz.

We still have a good amount of time until we see our favourite directors, writers, and actors grace the stage and pick up hardware, but the folks over at the Primetime Emmy Awards are already giving us a sneak peek at the big event. That’s right, just yesterday, the Emmy crew published their extensive list of 2018 nominees and it’s looking like a pretty competitive year.

As mentioned, the announcements were made yesterday at a presser that took place at Wolf Theatre in sunny Los Angeles. Leading the festivities were actors Samira Wiley and Ryan Eggold, from the hit shows Orange is the New Black and The Blacklist respectively. Saturday Night Live anchors, Colin Jost and Michael Che, have been tapped to host the actual awards show which is set to air on September 17.

The nominations themselves are not incredibly surprising, as HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones leads the charge with a whopping 22 nods. The aforementioned Saturday Night Live and cowboy sci-fi Westworld join GoT at the top of nominations. Some other big news is that Canadian star, Sandra Oh, made history as the first woman of Asian decent nominated for best lead actress in a drama series thanks to her turn in Killing Eve.
