Based on the book series by Veronica Roth, Divergent hopes to become the new Hunger Games. Set in a futuristic Chicago, citizens are divided into five groups based on personality. Protagonist Beatrice (Shailene Woodley) finds herself on the outside after she discovers she doesn’t fit into any of the factions.

Transcendence

Johnny Depp’s newest movie, Transcendence, plays at artificial intelligence in a dystopian future.  Depp plays a scientist who has his body downloaded into a computer before he dies. Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman also star in the film.

The Giver was required reading for anyone attending school in the 1990s.
