Watch The New Trailer For 'Snowden'

Former-NSA worker, Edward Snowden, is one of the most polarizing figures in recent history. In 2013, Snowden revealed to the world, just how invasive America’s domestic intelligence agencies truly were. After fleeing the US for Hong-Kong, the 29 year-old spoke with the press, chronicling the extent of civilian surveillance, and proving that the government was responsible for huge breaches in privacy. The revelation put Snowden in incredible danger. Some villainized him for betraying his country, and others idolized him for shedding light onto the matter. For a time, the systems administrator was the talk of every media outlet in the world. Edward Snowden’s own personal take on his story, however, never seemed to be taken into account. Now, thanks to director Oliver Stone, we may be getting that by way of a new biopic.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Snowden centres around the internal struggles of the man during this tumultuous time. We see how the pending leaks affect his psyche, his career, and his personal relationships. Of course, there is a little Hollywood gusto as well, showcasing his brief time in the military, and exaggerating other aspects of his pre-leak life. Regardless, it all looks extremely fascinating.

Snowden also stars Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, and Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto. It will hit theatres nationwide on September 16th. Check out the trailer below.
