Take Five Minutes And Watch This: Eddie Vedder & Beyonce Perform ‘Redemption Song’

Music can be fun and silly and entertaining and thrilling and a great many things and that includes, at times, universally important.

Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” is one of those important songs and Saturday evening at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, two of the most decorated and respected artists of the last 25 years, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and Beyonce, teamed up for an amazing rendition of the final song from Marley’s final album, Uprising.

Seeing these two musical titans team-up so effortlessly, with a clip from a speech on poverty by Nelson Mandela spliced in as Vedder strummed and Queen B riffed, was forceful. Good luck watching this clip and not feeling a tickle in the back of your throat as your thoughts drift to those in our society, in our world that are less fortunate.

Kick off your Monday with something powerful and be good to one another.
