The Last Jedi is still many months away, but fans of the Star Wars saga will get an early look at the universe later this year. Before you go and preorder tickets for the massive flick, you may want to save your bucks for one of the year’s biggest games. Get ready to boot up your home consoles, because the next edition of the iconic Battlefront series is headed your way. The multiplayer shooter made a long awaited comeback in 2015 and quickly became one its most popular titles to date. Battlefront’s incredible graphics and enhanced gameplay was a hit with consumers and critics alike, but its lack of gameplay depth made replay value pretty limited. Thankfully, a flashy new trailer for the sequel has leaked onto the internet and it appears as though developers, EA and DICE, are done kidding around.
While short in length, the trailer for Battlefront 2 teases what could be a single player campaign centred around an Imperial soldier. This marks the first time Battlefront has incorporated this type of gameplay, something its predecessor was totally missing – of course the original games for Xbox and PS2 boasted campaign modes. Along with this exciting new feature, Battlefront 2 seems to posses characters and missions from all across the cinematic universe. Once again, this exemplifies that EA and DICE heard the cries of Battlefront players around the world. Not only will players be able to take over the likes of Sith Lord Darth Maul, but so too will they harness heroes from today’s trilogy. We hope this means everyone can recreate the epic lightsaber duel between Kylo Ren and Rey at the end of The Force Awakens. Unfortunately, the sad news is we don’t have an exact release date for Battlefront 2. It’s safe to assume that the game will be available sometime near The Last Jedi’s December 15 release date.
