The staff at a McDonald’s restaurant in Workington, England went above and beyond when they threw a surprise 93rd birthday party for a lonely widower who has eaten at the restaurant almost every day for the last two years.

Harry Scott began visiting his local McDonald’s almost every day after his wife passed away in 2013, reports The Daily Mail Online. They say the retiree comes in early in the afternoon for a Happy Meal six days a week, sometimes returning later for dinner.

To honour Scott, last week the staff decided to throw him a little surprise birthday party and decorated the restaurant with banners and balloons. The staff treated him to a free Happy Meal and gave him a present of whiskey and shortbread, which they had all chipped in for.

“When they threw the surprise party I had to wipe my eyes,” he said.

Jack Holliday works at the McDonalds and told the Mail, “He’s a one-off,” McDonald’s employee Jack Holliday said. “We get regular customers but he’s one that stands out. He’s bubbly and full of life, especially for a 93-year-old.”
