Andy Warhol Hits Toronto

Andy Warhol might be one of the most recognizable and referenced (and reproduced) pop art artists of our times, but up until now he hasn’t gotten more than his “15 minutes of fame” in a Canadian exhibition. On July 1, Andy Warhol Revisited: A Mirror for Today is set to open in Toronto; billed as the largest ever Warhol exhibition in Canada. Andy Warhol Revisitedpromises an engaging and educational curatorial experience that traces the development and trajectory of Warhol’s artistic language and its influence on culture as a whole. But here is the twist; it is planned for a vacant retail location on Bloor Street not an established local gallery. Perhaps, that is exactly how Andy would have wanted it?

The show, which has been curated by Canadian-owned, Los-Angeles based Revolver Gallery, features a selection of Warhol’s most recognizable pieces including portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Mick Jagger, as well as the iconic Campbell’s Soup Cans. But Revisited will go much further, featuring over 120 prints and paintings from Revolver Gallery’s own collection, The Andy Warhol Foundation, Christie’s Auction House, and distinguished museums and private collections.

The exhibition runs from July 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015. For more information visit: www.warholrevisited.com.
