Bronzers For Men

Bronzers men can use? Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder, The Body Shop Bronzing Gel and Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder

Summer might be coming to an end, but there is not reason your tan needs to fade, too. Lots of guys are considering using light amounts of makeup to keep their summer skin colour and extend it through the fall. Here are a few of the top products on the market along with some hints on how to apply it without looking like a cast member from the Jersey Shore.

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder ($57)

It has a matte formula along with a natural looking colour (ultra naturel 1) and even comes with its on concave shaped brush for a light, natural application.

The Body Shop Bronzing Gel For Face ($14.50)

This honey enriched formula is great for an added moisture boost as honey is a natural humectant but don’t be fooled by the ingredient list and think this will be an oil slick on your face. The gel formula ensures a light, non-greasy feel on the skin and with this product, you can build a natural looking colour in light layers.

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder ($44)

Another matte formula (always go matte, for a natural look), this silky smooth textured powder is great for any guy who happens to perspire a bit much as the powder will help to absorb any excess oils during the day. Big bonus for this particular bronzer is that it comes in six different shades.

Now that you’ve got the right product in hand, you should know how to apply it. Here are some simple rules to keep in mind, no matter what formula you choose to go with:

– tread lightly: be sure you are using very sparing amounts when you start using bronzer, especially for the first time. When using a gel, apply a dime size amount to the back of your hand and spread it around a bit with your fingers. Then dab lightly onto the skin and blend quickly, before the colour sets into the skin. With powder, swirl the brush in your powder in one circular motion. Tap off the excess powder onto a tissue and then apply to the face.

– location, location, location: you have to know where to place the colour to make sure it’s as natural looking as possible. Try following the “3” rule by applying the product in the shape of the number three.  Start at the top of your temple and, moving downwards, sweep underneath your cheekbones. From there, sweep another semi-circle down onto your jawline. With whatever is left on your fingers or brush, apply lightly onto the chin, nose and lightly around your hairline. These are the most natural spots where the sun would hit you, any way.
