Fragrance Of The Month: Paco Rabanne Invictus Intense EDT

Invictus. By definition the word means undefeated. So naturally, when it’s paired with Paco Rabanne, a Spanish designer with over four decades of fragrance making, it feels like the right fit.

Founded in 1966, Señor Rabanne started his career as an architect, became a jewellery designer for other bigwigs by default and finally, evolved into a globally recognized couture icon. His fashions, renowned for their quirky and eclectic use of unconventional materials, such as metal and paper, rocked the industry from the start and indelibly marked the brand as one to be reckoned with.

Which brings us back to the unconquerable. Or as it’s called in this spritz-able instance: Invictus Intense.

This new, Intense eau de toilette is a saltier, sexual upgrade to the original woody marine-like scent of 2013. While remaining “invincible” (that’s Latin-speak for Invictus), the juice is crafted with ingredients, like black pepper, neroli oil, whiskey, laurel leaf, ambergris, amber, and salt to represent power, dynamism, and energy. It works, too. The scent is warm and sexy and its salty quality gives it a raw, exhilarating effect.

Naturally, it’s all contained in a trophy-shaped, steel grey bottle. You know, because Invictus also means winner.

Paco Rabanne Invictus Intense EDT comes in 100 ml for $105. It’s available at Sephora and Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada.
