One of the year’s most popular sneakers is getting a slick retooling this week—but if you’re a fan of the Nike Air VaporMax, you already knew that. This Thursday, sneakerheads everywhere will be treated to a “Pure Platinum” edition of the aforementioned silhouette’s special, and ultra cozy laceless version.

It’s a welcome entry in the ongoing VaporMax series that has proven to be a dominant trend in 2017. The shoe’s maintained relevance can be credited to a bevy of cultural influencers including Nike ambassador Travis Scott, Grammy Award-winner Kendrick Lamar, and Toronto’s own rap superstar, Drake. The VaporMax was also one of the ten classics to get a remix from Off-White mastermind, Virgil Abloh.

Armed with plenty of buzz, the VaporMax has consistently sold out in stores across the globe, and routinely makes appearances online with a hefty marked up price tag. If the laceless gear looks eerily familiar, it’s likely thanks to a Comme Des Garcons capsule which launched last October. Nike has continued to experiment with the silhouette’s slip-on model, and recently delivered a cool “Triple Black” colourway this past spring.

Thankfully, Nike aficionados will be able to cop the incredibly stylish “Pure Platinum” Laceless VaporMax in all of its glory this Thursday at select retailers. You’ll also be able to purchase the shoe on Nike’s webstore here. The brand has also announced laceless models will soon be available with a chunky, but aesthetically pleasing velcro strap; although this variant has yet to land an official release date.

In the meantime, get a closer look at the upcoming release via our slideshow below.
