The Newest Luxury Car: Genesis Enters The Canadian Market

GENESIS DEBUTS 2018 G80 SPORT TRIM WITH 3.3-LITER TURBOCHARGED ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE STYLING

The Genesis brand has been making waves since they entered the luxury car market in Canada a little over a year ago. The luxury brand comes from automaker Hyundai, known for upping the ante at all price levels in the car business. And that’s exactly where you will find their G80 and G90 sedans  – offering more for the same price (or less) than their competitors in the luxury sedan market. Now Hyundai isn’t new to the luxury car market, it has been dabbling in the arena since 2008. But Genesis is the fully realized luxury brand that has now come into its own.

Design:
Both sedans, the g80 and G90, are foward-thinking with stylish yet understated designed interiors and exteriors. They come with all the high end finishes you would expect; the interior sets a new standard. It is luxe yet minimalist. The dash is wrapped in beautiful leather, the switchgear is metal, the wood is from real trees and the stitches are perfect. The interiors are handsome yet understated. These models embody quiet luxury.

Performance:
Genesis goes head-to-head with the best automotive luxury brands in the world, matching them in performance and features. On the G80, three engines are offered: a 311-hp 3.8-liter V-6, a 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6, and a 420-hp 5.0-liter V-8. Rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard; all-wheel drive is optional. A long list of standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automated emergency braking, and many more

On the G90, two engines are offered—a 365-hp 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 and a 420-hp 5.0-liter V-8—both with an eight-speed automatic and rear- or all-wheel drive. Few options are offered; instead, nearly every conceivable feature is standard. Highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment, adaptive dampers, a head-up display, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Customer Concierge:
What sets this brand apart from the rest in the field is, what they are calling, “human-focused innovations”. This is customer services to the max – creating stress-free customer experiences. For example, potential owners can schedule a “Genesis at Home” demonstration. You can test drive your vehicle with a brand representative at a location of your own choosing. They can even complete their paperwork, make a deposit, and place an order through the digital platform from anywhere. But the service doesn’t stop there. The brand includes complimentary scheduled maintenance and navigation software updates for 5 years or 100,000 km. Again, they come to you. Customers can have their vehicle picked up for scheduled maintenance, left a courtesy vehicle, and returned when complete.

So why choose a Genesis instead of another car in this market? We decided to go straight to the source and asked Genesis Brand Director, Michael Ricciuto.

What do you think that Genesis brings to the market that is different than other luxury brands?
Genesis stands apart with world-class luxury vehicles backed by a modern, omni-channel business model designed to offer an unprecedented level of convenience. Whether it’s for a test drive, purchase, or after-sales maintenance, our customers can save time with Genesis at Home concierge service. We also provide the flexibility to purchase online or in our boutique showrooms, followed by a hassle-free ownership experience with complimentary scheduled maintenance for 5 years or 100,000 km. Best of all, Genesis vehicles offer these services and more for a transparent, all-inclusive price.

What’s next?
The next year will see a range of exciting news for the Genesis brand, beginning with the launch of our all-new G70 compact luxury sport sedan in the spring. While all Genesis models offer a compelling blend of sophisticated style and refined performance, G70 will add a degree of excitement to our line-up with its 365 twin-turbo V6 engine, bold styling, and sharp handling. Throughout the year we’ll also be opening new boutique showrooms in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.
