If you’re looking to purchase a brand new vehicle, you may want to wait and save up for the Tesla Roadster. The second generation Roadster was announced earlier this month and is already grabbing headlines for its impressive acceleration and souped up electric engine. In fact, the Roadster’s highlight specs have prompted Tesla to name it the “quickest car in the world”.

Company founder and CEO, Elon Musk, debuted the Roadster at a press event in Hawthorne, California where he set up an epic show in true Tesla fashion. After presenting the Tesla Semi truck to an eager crowd, the company alluded to one more special surprise. Musk eventually delivered on the promise by rolling out in a slick red supercar to the tune of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”. Thankfully, all of the hype seems to be warranted and the car’s pre-orders are already being filled despite its hefty $200,000 price tag.

Tesla’s green sports car may have already been one of the decade’s most anticipated vehicles, but Elon Musk is upping the ante yet again this week. On Monday evening, the tech wizard took to his Twitter account and teased a monumental feature that would be included in the upcoming Roadster model. If users are willing to upgrade their purchase to a “special option package”, they could be rolling in a flying car. Yes, you read that correctly.

Not much is currently known about the Roadster’s potential hover ability, but Musk is certainly not afraid to raise our expectations. Apparently, the car will be outfitted with state-of-the-art “rocket tech”, which Musk confidently claims will revolutionize transportation. Consider us intrigued, but we’ll have to wait until 2020 to understand exactly what this all means. In the meantime, you can read Musk’s tweets in question below.
