Samsung to Release Massive 146-Inch Television

Samsung is about to change the home entertainment game yet again. Earlier today, the tech giant officially announced its latest and most exciting new product, an impressive 146-inch wall display. Aptly dubbed “The Wall”, the massive television will be armed with 4K technology and will utilize an MicroLED screen, which is about as cutting-edge and crisp as it gets in terms of flat edge display.

For all of you tech nerds out there, the gargantuan MicroLED screen will work through quantum dots which are placed on top of a self-emissive diode. As Forbes reports, “this means that there should be no problems with heat or color degradation despite the astonishing levels of brightness the screen”. Naturally, the substantial investment in this TV seems worth it given the advanced and self-sustaining nature of its design.

At its 2018 First Look event, Samsung President of Visual Display Business, Jonghee Han, promised a home entertainment experience like nothing before.  “As the world’s first consumer modular MicroLED television, ‘The Wall’ represents another breakthrough,” Han told those gathered in the Las Vegas showroom. “It can transform into any size, and delivers incredible brightness, color gamut, color volume and black levels. We’re excited about this next step along our roadmap to the future of screen technology, and the remarkable viewing experience it offers to consumers.”

There has yet to be an official release date for the 146-inch behemoth, but online rumours are hinting at a 2019 retail release. Perhaps the only downfall of the otherwise enticing product is of course the potential price tag. Televisions equipped with fancy features like this one are always expensive, never mind the cost of the towering screen itself. Regardless, we’ll all have to wait and see if the positives vastly outweigh the negatives when “The Wall” hits stores in the near future.
