The Girls We Loved In 2013

Above: Just a few of the girls we loved throughout 2013

We had to complete the difficult task of looking back at 2013 and hand pick who we thought were the hottest women of the year. Yes, life can be tough. Based on talent, beauty and their ability to make headlines, these were the women that stood out. This year wouldn’t be the same without them.

Here are the girls we loved in 2013:

Kate Upton

It’s been a great year for models. After 2013, you’re bound to have  heard of Kate Upton or you’ve definitely seen her around, specifically your younger brother’s bedroom wall. The 21-year-old made history this year when she appeared on  the cover of  Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for two years in a row, making her the first model to do this since Tyra Banks in 1996. Since then, she’s appeared in Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle and a number of other ad campaigns.  If only she became a Victoria Secret model, then our lives would be complete.

Scarlett Johannson

When you’re the first celeb to be declared “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire twice, there’s a reason.  This year, Johannson appeared in Don Jon playing the controlling girlfriend of a porn addict. She also gave her voice to the flick Her, the story about a man who falls in love with his phone’s operating system. Just think of Siri on your iPhone, except it’s raspy sweet voice of ScarJo. Her voice performance is so good, that many predict she’ll be nominated for an Oscar. Keep in mind, she doesn’t even make an appearance in the film, it’s just her voice. If you can make men swoon on your voice alone, then you’ve got it made.

Emilia Clarke

Bow down to the Mother of Dragons, boys. There are reasons why people are obsessed with HBO’s Game of Thrones, and one of them is definitely Emilia Clarke.  Her breakthrough performance as Daenerys Targaryen has a lot of people taking notice. Aside from the show, Clarke is making some big plans to appear on the silver screen. She just recently signed on to star as Sarah Connor in the upcoming Terminator reboot set to come out in 2015. One blockbuster movie role and we’re sure she’ll give JLaw a run for her money. But until then, we’ll be counting down the days until GoT comes back in April.

Sofia Vergara

This latin beauty is one of the main reasons why guys are tuning into primetime. Star of ABC’s hit show Modern Family, Sofia Vergara is both funny and beautiful- the perfect combo. She’s been nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actress for her role in the show for four years in a row. And although she hasn’t won yet, she’s still a winner in our books. We also appreciate all the figure hugging gowns she wears to these shows. Let me tell you, guys aren’t just tuning into the red carpet specials for the fashion.

Miranda Kerr

We don’t think anyone can model lingerie better than Miranda Kerr. Although we’re still trying to get over the fact she’s no longer a Victoria Secret Angel (I guess Adriana Lima will suffice), we’re thankful she hasn’t given up on modeling completely, not yet anyway. She is one of the highest paid models in the industry and has worked with just about everyone you can think of. This Aussie was named Esquire UK‘s “Sexiest Woman Alive” and we couldn’t agree more. And for all those daydreamers out there, Kerr is back on the market…just sayin.

Rihanna

It’s hard not to love this Bajan beauty.  Rihanna has been topping the charts since 2005, and shows no signs of stopping. This year she won her seventh grammy and won the first ever AMA for “Icon of the Year.” She even got her ass smacked by Michael Cera in the apocalyptic comedy This is the End. If that’s not success, what is?  2014 will be an even bigger year for Riri, who will reportedly release two albums. If by now you don’t think she deserves to be in our top ten list, just check out her instagram and that will change your mind.

Emily Ratajkowski

It was a simple case of “Who’s that girl?” After literally strutting her stuff in Robin Thicke’s  controversial “Blurred Lines” video (the uncensored version obviously),  that girl was none other than UK-born model Emily Ratajkowski. After the video went viral, she became every guy’s dream girl. I mean who doesn’t love a girl who is completely comfortable with their body, right? Her confidence, outgoing personality and good looks earned Ratajkowski the title of  “Woman of the Year,” by Esquire magazine.  What makes it even more impressive is she beat out Hollywood it-girl Jennifer Lawrence and model Kate Upton. Her newfound popularity has even landed her an acting gig in the film adaption of Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck.  If there’s anyone to watch in 2014, it’s this girl.

Miley Cyrus

All hail the twerking queen, y’all! Let’s be real, she’s doesn’t have the best twerk but you have to thank her for making the booty shakin’ dance craze so popular. It’s been a big year for Miley Cyrus who dropped her fourth studio album and got her single “Wrecking Ball” to hit number one on the Billboard charts. She’s also been working hard  licking sledgehammers, riding a wrecking ball naked and let’s not forget that much talked about VMA performance with Robin Thicke. She has proven countless times over the year that  her squeaky clean Hannah Montana image is far behind her. If you’re still not convinced, just watch her new “Adore you” video that premiered last week. She’s a little wild and we like that, and apparently you guys like it too. The “We Can’t Stop” artist was named Maxim’s number one on their annual Hot 100 List.

Beyonce

Remember the Super Bowl? No, we’re not talking about the football or million dollar commercials. What I really mean is, do you remember the half time show? Beyonce’s performance this year was incredible,  one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. She’s a tough act to follow (we’re praying for you Bruno Mars). This moment is really only a small taste of what Beyonce had in store for us this year. Just when you thought 2013 was over, with absolutely no warning she dropped her self titled album Beyonce, what she called her visual album. The surprise move crashed iTunes and the internet practically exploded. It has since sold over one million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of the year. Just think, no PR, no self promotion and her album is still topping the charts. They don’t call her Queen B for nothing.

Jennifer Lawrence

No top anything list is complete without Jennifer Lawrence in it. She started the year off by winning Best Actress at the Oscars for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. Most importantly, she fell down on her way to accept the award, recovered and resumed to being awesome and funny in a matter of seconds. In November, she returned to her role as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire which broke box office records. She also just recently got  nominated for a Golden Globe  for her supporting role in American Hustle. Did we mention she was named one of Time‘s most influential people of the year? This girl is literally taking over the world, and frankly we don’t want her to stop.
