Woman Crush Wednesday: Emma Stone

Name: Emily Jean Stone

Birthdate: November 6, 1988

Birthplace: Scottsdale, Arizona

Claim to fame: Her red hair stormed onto the scene when she played Jonah Hill’s love interest in the 2007 raunchy comedy, Superbad.

What we can see her in next: She next stars in Woody Allen’s new comedy Magic in the Moonlight with Colin Firth, which releases in theatres on July 25, 2014.

Interesting fact: She’s naturally a blonde, but Judd Apatow told her to dye her hair red during the casting for Superbad.

Best quote: “Comedy was my sport. It taught me how to roll with the punches. Failure is the exact same as success when it comes to comedy because it just keeps coming, it never stops.” — On her love for comedy growing up.

Why we love her: “I love those red heads!” today we proudly channel our best Wooderson impression from Dazed & Confused as we crown Ms. Emma Stone as our ‘Woman Crush Wednesday’.

We’ll also all probably remember when Jonah Hill was drunk and fell right into Emma Stone’s face in Superbad. Well, her reaction was completely improvised and kept in during the editing process because it was that hilarious. Ever since that role, Emma Stone has been on the fast track to become one of the best comedy/serious actress combinations in young Hollywood. She’s our crush this week because she’s world-class talent and is continually showing us how sexy a sense of humour can be, as well as helping red heads to become mainstream popularity.

Emma Stone grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona where she performed in comedy troupes and an abundance of theatre productions growing up, leading to her having instant aspirations for a career in Hollywood. During her young teen years, she was homeschooled for two years so she could perform in 16 theatre productions. Then at the age of 15, she convinced her parents to let her move to LA by giving them a Power Point Presentation to Madonna’s song, Hollywood. Soon after she moved out to the city of angels with her mother where she began her pursuit of stardom.

About eight months after her move to LA she started to book roles regularly. She made her television debut as Laurie Partridge on In the Search of the New Partridge Family in 2004, as well as guest starred on shows such as Malcolm in the Middle and Lucky Louie as a teenager. She also auditioned for the role of Claire Bennet on the show Heroes, but lost out on the part to Hayden Panettiere.  But she finally got her break when she booked the part on Superbad, which very quickly moved her up the ranks in Hollywood. She then had her star-marking performance when she played the lead in the comedy Easy A, which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 2011. Some of her other notable films have been Zombieland, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Help, Gangster Squad, as well as The Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2.

Emma Stone is definitely a spark plug of an actress that everybody loves to watch. She can rotate seamlessly between comedy, drama, and action, which is a very rare thing for a young actress to be able to do. But she makes it look easy, and with wit and charm to boot. She’s our crush this week because she’s a true original and one red head you will never forget…even though she’s not even a real red head (Ssssh!).
