Woman Crush Wednesday: Jennifer Lawrence

Name: Jennifer Shrader Lawrence

Birthdate: August 15, 1990

Birthplace: Louisville, Kentucky

Claim to fame: Well, there are a lot of things that Jennifer Lawrence is famous for now. But her breakout performance came in 2010’s Winter’s Bone, where at the age of 20, she was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress (at the time she was the second-youngest person to receive a nomination in the category).

What we can see her in next: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 hits theatres on November 21.

Interesting fact: Despite how grossly talented she is, Lawrence has never had any formal acting training. In fact, she wasn’t even enrolled in the drama program at her school growing up.

Best quote: “He was at a party, and I turned into a perverted guy. I was like following him into rooms and staring at his ass…He asked me if I was on mushrooms and I said, ‘No. I’m dead sober. This is just me.’” — on stalking John Stamos at a party one time.

Why we love her: It’s hard to believe that we’ve gone all these weeks without naming J Lawrence as our crush. But with Part 1 of the final installment of The Hunger Games film series set to hit theatres on November 21, now is the perfect time to crown her as our #WCW. What’s not to love about her? Talent wise she is the second coming of Meryl Streep, and personality wise, she comes across as hilarious, honest, down-to-earth, and self-deprecating in a way that a stand-up comedian would. So how do you beat that formula? You simply can’t. By all accounts, Jennifer Lawrence is a miracle in Hollywood.

Ever since 2010, when she was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress in the indie film Winter’s Bone, she’s been taking the HOV lane to super stardom. The long list of mega successes that followed, include — landing the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, winning the Oscar for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook, playing Mystique in the X-Men series, as well as getting nominated for an Oscar for the third time for her work in American Hustle, but this time for Actress in a Supporting Role (she won the Golden Globe).

While the amazingness of Jennifer Lawrence has been well documented for years now, her untouchable stature did take a hit recently, when naked photos of her were hacked and spread all across the Internet. How did she respond? Well like you expect she would, with very eloquent, honest, and obviously vulnerable words that would have literally torn apart the soul of any online trollers who looked at them.

Jennifer Lawrence is our crush this week for so many reasons that don’t need to be explained. It’s just common sense now.

You can catch her in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 in theatres on November 21.
