Woman Crush Wednesday: Rosamund Pike

Above: Rosamund Pike attends the world premiere Of 'Gone Girl' at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

Name: Rosamund Pike

Birthdate: January 27, 1979

Birthplace: Hammersmith, London, England

Claim to fame: She first came to audiences’ attention when she was only 21, playing bond girl Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day.

What we can see her in next: She stars opposite Ben Affleck in David Fincher’s highly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel, Gone Girl.

Interesting fact: She seems to have come out nowhere to land one of the biggest movie roles in 2014 as Amy Dunne in Fincher’s Gone Girl, apparently beating out other heavyweight actresses such as Emily Blunt, Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Reese Witherspoon for the role.

Best quote: “I think you can make a choice with that kind of thing. You can certainly keep a low public profile if you want to. Ideally, I’d like to be living in upstate New York, in a house that I could renovate and fill with books and clothes, while being offered the kind of parts that are currently going to Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman.” — on her yearning to continue acting while keeping a low profile.

Why we love her: So who landed the role that every big actress in Hollywood wanted in David Fincher’s latest movie Gone Girl?

Well that would be our WCW this week, British actress Rosamund Pike. Yup, she landed the role of Amy Dunne, the missing wife of Ben Affleck, who is accused in her disappearance as the whole film spirals into a confluence of mind-games and media controversy. The film is based off Gillian Flynn’s extremely popular novel of the same name. So it seems with this big break and the already established fan-base from the novel, Ms. Pike is going to be getting the type of attention that puts her bond girl fame to shame.

For those of you who can’t quite pin point where you’ve seen this British beauty before…

She got her first film break in 2002 as bond girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day. And ever since then she has made a career starring opposite some of the biggest leading men in the game: alongside Johnny Depp in 2004’s Libertine, opposite Ryan Gosling in 2007’s Fracture, Paul Giamatti in 2010’s Barney’s Version, Sam Worthington in Wrath of the Titans in 2012, as well as Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher.

Now her career has finally taken off to the next level and she will no longer be merely remembered for the men she appeared opposite of, since she will be starring as the title female role in a David Fincher film. So for all her fans, and all her soon-to-be fans, Rosamund Pike is one actress you’re going to want to keep your eye on…and for more reasons than one.

You can catch Gone Girl in theatres everywhere on October 3.
