The month of August is, without fail, an amazing time for movie-goers. The same can’t always be said for music buffs. The summer heat tends to bring with it, a dry spell of new tunes. We have already been bombarded by the songs of the summer, which have dominated the radio since the beginning of the season. We understand that it may all start to blend into each other now, which is exactly why we’ve put this list together. If you’re tired of hearing the same three songs over and over again, then you need to check out these summer albums. With a few from different genres, you’re bound to find something up your alley.

Indie Rock

Whitney – Light Upon The Lake

Chicago outfit, Whitney, have put together some of the year’s best alternative rock with Light Upon The Lake. The ten track LP is armed with boyish falsettos and George Harrison guitar licks. It’s sonically comforting, and somehow entirely new.

Jaunt – Chat EP

Toronto’s Jaunt are fresh from releasing their pretty and hazy little EP, Chat. Aside from the tongue-in-cheek Usher interpolation, “Gentle Reminder”, the soothing “Hello” is a great bit of post-Tame Impala psychedelia.
