All-American designer Tommy Hilfiger is set to publish a memoir with Random House. The book will feature Hilfiger’s personal stories from childhood, and follow his start in the fashion industry, including the ups, downs, and his drive to create a multi-billion dollar global lifestyle brand.

“Reflecting on my experiences in the fashion industry over the last 30-plus years has been a wild ride, filled with milestone moments that have defined both my career and personal life,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “I always believe the best is yet to come, but so far: it’s been the adventure of a lifetime.”

Of course, the 63-year-old designer is known for his preppy, East Coast American style.

Growing up in Elmira, New York, Hilfiger was busy from an early age. In 1969, while still attending high school, Hilfiger became an entrepreneur when he opened his own small chain of clothing stores. The Tommy Hilfiger fashion label was launched in 1985, and quickly grew to include womenswear, Hilfiger Denim, kidswear, accessories, fragrance, home, and more.

With the success of his brand, in the 1990s Hilfiger went on to be one of first designers to connect ties between celebrities and a fashion label. The brand has sponsored tours for rock legends like The Rolling Stones, and has a long history of featuring musicians such as Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie and Beyoncé in international advertising campaigns.

Publication of the memoir is scheduled for Fall 2015, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Tommy Hilfiger brand.
