When Daft Punk cancelled its scheduled appearance on The Colbert Report just hours before show time, Stephen Colbert made sure his viewers would still get an awesome performance of one of the summer’s biggest songs.

Last night the late night host explained that Daft Punk was booked to perform on the show “about a month ago”, but when the band was secretly contracted to perform at the forthcoming MTV Video Music Awards they were forced to pull out of their scheduled appearance on “StePhest Colbchella”.

Colbert said: “Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Don’t tell anyone, because fun fact: no one told me until two hours ago.”

Colbert naturally pulled together this “Get Lucky” dance party with Jimmy Fallon, Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Bryan Cranston, Nick Cannon and even Jon Stewart via Skype. Enjoy.
