We’re almost out of February, and that means springtime is around the corner. Patches of snow may still linger on the ground, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to sun and patio weather. It’s been a long and grey winter, so can anyone blame us for prepping next season’s wardrobe?

With the temperature rising, we begin to look at new pieces to add to our closets. One of the amazing parts of warmer weather, is that our feet are no longer sentenced to suffocate in weathered winter boots. So naturally, when trees begin to sprout leaves, it’s almost instinctual that we let our feet breath and break out our favourite pair of sneakers.

While pulling out an old pair of shoes may be your first move, you may want to consider copping something fresh. A new year brings with it exciting new trends, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to stay up with them all. Sure, you could play it safe and buy something familiar, but why not invest into something unique and cutting-edge?

Thankfully for everyone, streetwear and high fashion are becoming more and more intertwined and sneaker culture is reaping the benefits. Luxury houses are collaborating with athletic brands, and the fashion world is gifting us plenty of awesome new options.

If you’re willing to shell out a few more dollars for brand new shoes, here are five of our favourite designer sneakers to choose from.

Comme des Garçons x Nike VaporMax

We’ve already expressed our excitement regarding this Comme des Garçons and Nike capsule. The futuristic VaporMax blends the latter’s flyknit racer design, and adds a bubble support with CDG’s signature flair. The shoe is out soon, and if the press release is to be believed, it’ll feel like “walking on air”.
