Capri, Italy: located off the South side of Naples in the Tyrrhenian Sea, this island has been the vacation playground for the rich and famous since the late 1800s, favoured by writers, artists, aristocrats and celebrities, alike. Okay, we’ll name drop a few: E.F. Benson, Charles Caryl Coleman, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Sophia Loren and Mariah Carey, who is rumoured to own a villa on the island.

And while rumours abound (like a recent Rihanna and Drake siting), the island is also steeped in mystery. Legend has it that a handsome man named Kaloneus founded Capri. Descended from the Gods, Vulcan and Venus, Kaloneus was sent to the island to express his love to each of the women he treasured by dedicating pillar-like masses of rock to each one. Kaloneus must have been popular with the ladies, as these sea stacks dot the coastline surrounding the island. They and the rest of the island have also captured the hearts of Italian designers, Dolce & Gabbana and with it, a new eau, Light Blue Beauty of Capri.

This liquid embodiment is replete with the crisp juicy notes of Capri’s famous and sour fruit, the Cedrat. Bitter orange and Sicilian bergamot notes add a fresh quality, while sweet neroli blossoms, cool marine accord and a hint of spicy Sichuan pepper give the scent it’s breezy sea salt and sun feel. Warm cedar, sharp vetiver, golden myrrh and intimate musk complete the fragrance, providing a deeply masculine and elegant finish. Like all of the brand’s Light Blue bottles, Beauty of Capri’s elixir is contained in a sea-blue glass flacon; a metal band circling the clean, white cap.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Beauty of Capri EDT Limited Edition comes in 75 ml for $77. It’s available at select stores across Canada.
