Fragrance Of The Month: Burberry, Mr. Burberry Indigo EDT

Burberry’s latest scent Mr. Burberry Indigo is the equivalent of, well, of an online magazine article like this.

For starters, the name of the scent is straight forward, clear and to the point. Much like this story’s title. When you read the cologne’s white scripted and capped font across the weighty, rectangular-shaped glass bottle, you know exactly who the fragrance is for: men. And yet, because of the added prefix Mr., you also know that this eau de toilette is for a man with style, taste and class. (British accent is optional.)

The descriptor Indigo, of course, is comparable to the copy that makes up a digital story. Short and concise, this narrative provides all of the insight you need to know, like how the colour Indigo represents the British Coast in homage to the United Kingdom where the legendary brand was born. And because indigo is a shade of blue, it is associated it with the scent’s cool, fresh and invigorating notes of lemon, mint and rosemary—all an embodiment of the seashore it’s perfumer Francis Kurkdjian was inspired by. The gradually intensification of the flacon’s blue hue from navy to indigo, also alludes to the eau’s depth, complete with it’s earthy layered blend of violet, amber and oakmoss, making the scent (like all good stories), as intriguing as it is informative.

The eau’s conclusion, naturally, ties the story together. In this instance, a hand-tied English-woven gabardine knot around the neck of the weighted cap references the horn-look buttons of the brand’s iconic, navy Trench Coat and it’s masculine and oh-so coveted heritage.

Burberry, Mr. Burberry Indigo EDT is $80 for 50 ml and $104 for 100 ml, available at Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada.
