With millions of users, Instagram is the social media of choice for the snap-happy. Of course, with the rise of Instagram we’ve been introduced to a new phenomenon: Social media savvy trailblazers who’ve been able to turn their good looks and selfie skills into modeling contracts. One of them is 17-year-old Brian Whittaker whose style and physique not only made him popular…it landed him a big time modeling contract.

The Birmingham, England-based emerging model, like most teenagers, has had a social media presence for years now. He first joined Twitter back in 2013, and has since watched his social media presence skyrocket. Just how high? Whittaker currently has over 500K followers on Instagram, nearly 22K on Twitter, and an active Snapchat account.

Whittaker ticks a lot of the boxes that make his popularity on Instagram seem almost inevitable: He’s 6’1″, with bright green eyes and a six-pack, and has a penchant for posting photos of himself wearing of-the-moment streetwear brands. So it was only a matter of time until Whittaker’s booming social media platform took him to the next level, following in the footsteps of other models in his age bracket—think Lucky Blue Smith (read up on Lucky here), Cameron Dallas, Luka Sabbat, and Anwar Hadid—who have leveraged their massive online presence into full-time careers.

Complex also points out that Whittaker has a burgeoning role as millennial motivational tweeter. His timeline is full of a wide range of positive messages to his followers, including: “I’d like to live in a world where people of all races and sexualities get along without trying to prove something to each other.”

“I get told from real people that aren’t just in the comments—people that I encounter in real life—that I’ve had an impact in their life,” he says. “It’s a great feeling.”
