Zayn Malik has spent the last few years of his life, as one of the biggest pop stars in the world. The former One Directioner turned solo artist, released a Billboard-charting debut album, and became romantically involved with one of the fashion industry’s most prominent figures, Gigi Hadid. The latter partnership is now opening more doors for the “Pillowtalk” singer. In an announcement made today, Zayn is partnering with Versace for their Versus brand. Debuting in May of next year, the capsule line will be designed by Malik, and will consist of both men and women’s wear. Malik will also star in the company’s upcoming campaigns.

Figurehead, Donatella Versace, explained to media outlets that the collaboration was a result of reintroduction, which was fortunately spurred by Hadid. Versus Versace is often cited, as New York Times is quoted, “the younger, hipper, sibling line” of the brand. The popular company has been without a chief designer, since former head Anthony Vaccarello, jumped ship to join French titan, Yves Saint Laurent.

In a recent backstage interview, Donatella Versace expressed her excitement for the capsule line. “Versus is the rock and roll soul of the Versace family and has always been associated with music. Everyone from the Foo Fighters to Lenny Kravitz has played at the shows, and it is all about rebellion. For me, Zayn was the perfect fit”.

You can expect to see Zayn’s face plastered all over Versus’ spring rollout. The pieces themselves will be dropping in stores, a little later in 2017. In the meantime, you can see the Instagram post of the announcement, below.
