With the help of cultural influencers and almost a half-century of tradition, the Nike Cortez has quickly become an iconic and inescapable sneaker. The simple and undeniably clean model was initially designed for the track course, but thanks to its fresh look and affordable price tag, the shoe has evolved into a streetwear staple. With its prominent swoosh and classic silhouette, the Cortez is an absolute wardrobe essential and a perfect option for the urban roamer.

Since its foundation in 1972, the Cortez has remained relatively untouched. This is far from an issue given that the sneaker is armed with an ageless aesthetic. Following in the footsteps of other models, Nike is now releasing a flyknit edition of its classic Cortez sneaker.

It’s a welcome overhaul for the shoe, and it will come with two dope colourways. Along with the classic red, white, and blue version, the Cortez Flyknit will also release with a black and white model. The knit edition comes bolstered with panel support, boost technology, and a sock-like upper sole. You can expect the first official drop to come on July 4, which will hopefully be followed by more restocks.
