Woman Crush Wednesday: Emma Roberts

Name: Emma Rose Roberts

Birthdate: February 10, 1991

Birthplace: Rhinebeck, New York

Claim to fame: While she received some level of instant fame for being Julia Roberts’ niece when she started out in the industry, Emma began to carve out her own audience when she starred as Addie Singer in the Nickelodeon television series, Unfabulous from 2004-2007.

What we can see her in next: She stars alongside James Franco in the new movie Palo Alto, which arrives in theatres on May 9th.

Interesting Fact: What a lot of people won’t know is that her first ever role was playing Johnny Depp’s daughter, Kristina Jung, in the movie Blow.

Best quote: “We Robertses have too many teeth for our mouths.” – commenting on the famous big teeth smile that her and her aunt have.

Why we love her: We all know the famous smile of Julia Roberts, but now there’s not just one star that goes by the last name Roberts who has that famous ear-to-ear grin with teeth the size of Roman pillars. The young starlet is Emma Roberts. While her aunt is a massive movie star, she’s had absolutely no problem escaping her giant shadow and making her own name for herself in Hollywood. She’s done this by showcasing her talent and star qualities in many of her early performances, as well as yielding a successful career that started early in childhood. Emma Roberts is our crush this week because she’s probably about to take her career to the next level in the new movie Palo Alto, in which she plays a young student who gets seduced by her soccer coach, James Franco.

She started acting at a very young age, when she booked the first role she ever auditioned for as Johnny Depp’s daughter, Kristina Jung, in the movie Blow. She flew through her childhood, booking roles on several small feature films. Then in 2004 she booked the lead role on the Nickelodeon series Unfabulous, for which she received several nominations and awards during the span of the show.

Other well-known performances were playing the title role in the 2007 Nancy Drew movie, as well as starring opposite her aunt in the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day (although they never appeared onscreen together). She also had a leading role in Scream 4 back in 2011, then more recently, she starred alongside Jason Sudekis and Jennifer Aniston in We’re the Millers.

Lately she’s started to blossom into quite the adult performer, showing everybody that she’s not just going to sit back and ride the coattails of her famous last name. She wants to be taken seriously as an actress, and she wants to do it on her own merit. That is definitely something male audiences will find both admirable and attractive in a young actress and woman. Emma Roberts keep doing your thing, and we’ll all be watching you blossom with our eyes peeled.
