Toronto Caribbean Carnival season may have officially come to a close—it ran from July 29 to August 3 this year—but we wish the energy and good vibes it brought to the city could keep going. Toronto was filled with incredible music, amazing fits and some seriously stellar parties. One party in particular featured a lineup of cocktails that we’re still dreaming about.
So, naturally, we reached out to one of our favourite bartenders to get the secrets behind those delicious drinks—and, of course, we’re sharing them with you. After all, the spirit of Carnival is all about spreading the love. So, if you’re not quite ready to let the Caribbean Carnival vibes go, why not shake up one of these cocktails at home?
Hennessy Carnival Vibe Check
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Hennessy V.S.
- 1.5 oz pineapple juice
- 4 oz Ting grapefruit soda
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.shake.
- Shake until well chilled (the shaker will get condensation on the outside when it hits the right temperature)
- Strain into a highball style glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with slice of fresh pineapple.
Hennessy Carnival Delight
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Hennessy V.S.
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 4 oz hibiscus tea
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
- Shake until well chilled.
- Strain into a highball style glass with fresh ice.
- Garnish with hibiscus flower (if you want to be fancy)
Hennessy Carnival Coco
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Hennessy V.S.
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.5 oz cane simple syrup
- 4 oz coconut water
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
- Shake until well chilled.
- ,Strain into a highball style glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a hibiscus flower.
