In Your Ears: Summer Music Picks

Above: Some of the summer's best albums

The month of August is, without fail, an amazing time for movie-goers. The same can’t always be said for music buffs. The summer heat tends to bring with it, a dry spell of new tunes. We have already been bombarded by the songs of the summer, which have dominated the radio since the beginning of the season. We understand that it may all start to blend into each other now, which is exactly why we've put this list together. If you’re tired of hearing the same three songs over and over again, then you need to check out these summer albums. With a few from different genres, you’re bound to find something up your alley.

Electronica

Stwo – D.T.S.N.T. EP

Newly settled Torontonian, Stwo, already has the coveted Drake cosign. After landing a credit on the 6 God’s insanely successful Views, Stwo rides on the hype and delivers with the D.T.S.N.T. EP. The atmospheric, cavernous, sonics are amplified by some well-placed guest appearances by the likes of Daniel Caesar and OVO affiliate Amir Obe. The dark and dreary eight tracks sound like they’re trying to summon a portal to the upside down (shoutout to my Stranger Things fans). We mean that in the best way possible.

NAO – For All We Know

Jai Paul’s influence is all over NAO’s latest project, For All We Know. The East Londoner shows that even more blatantly, by linking up once again, with brother AK Paul, for one of the album’s cuts. The spastic electronica isn’t necessarily accessible to the average listener, but to fans of the sound, it’s a breath of fresh air.
