One of 2013’s most underrated flicks is about to get a much-needed sequel. In a market oversaturated by flashy, big budget superhero films, it was a Gundam-inspired adventure released four years ago that became one of the decade’s most original and entertaining offerings. Pacific Rim: Uprising will be the second entry in the titular filmic universe and judging from a few early looks, the movie is packed with incredible special effects and an undeniably talented cast.

Uprising is set to debut in March of next year, and the movie will star Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens lead, Jon Boyega. The upcoming movie is sure to once again contain massive mech Jaegers and monstrous Kaijus, but the action vehicle won’t be guided by its mastermind creator, Guillermo del Toro. The famed director is still on deck as producer, but this time he’s handed the chair over to Daredevil showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight.

Pacific Rim: Uprising will pick up roughly ten years after its predecessor. According to producers, the plot will focus on the world’s continued struggle against massive creatures that threaten humanity’s entire existence. It will be up to the Jaeger program once again to defeat the prey that lurks within the waters, and this time they’ll need all the help they can get.
