Chances are your summer calendar is jam packed, just like the rest of us. To help you make sure nothing falls through the cracks welcome to The Primer, your monthly look ahead at the biggest movies, music, books and games coming out this month.

FaceOff edited by David Baldacci (June 3)

If you’re a fan of crime thrillers, you’re going to want to check out this book. Edited by New York Times best-seller David Baldacci, FaceOff pairs some of the top serial characters in genre together in an 11-story anthology written by the likes of Dennis Lehane, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly and Lisa Gardner.

True Blood Season 6 on DVD (June 3)

With the final season of HBO’s Louisiana-based vampire drama set to commence on Sunday, June 22, a binge weekend might be order for those looking to catch up or coming to the series for the first time. Luckily, Season 6 is now available on DVD, meaning every minute of the struggles in the fictional town of Bon Temps can be consumed prior to this month’s premiere.

Orange is the New Black, Season 2 (June 6)

A smash hit for Netflix during its first season, Orange is the New Black is back for Round 2 beginning Friday. Based on lead character Piper Kerman’s memoir of the same name, the show has been heralded as one of the best on TV… or however you want to describe watching shows created specifically for a streaming site in 2014. Someone needs to come up with a phrase for that.

True Detective on DVD (June 10)

If you somehow missed out on this gripping HBO series during it’s run earlier this year — or if you couldn’t get enough the first time around and want Rust Cohle and Marty Hart available to you at all times — now is your chance to find out what all the fuss was about. Even if you’re not a huge crime-thriller type, Nick Pizzolatto’s story and Cary Fukunaga’s work behind the camera are captivating.

Hard Choices by Hillary Rodham Clinton (June 10)

Moving from the DVD library to the actual library, former First Lady and Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is back on bookstands with Hard Choices, an “inside account of the crises, choices, and challenges she faced during her four years as America’s 67th Secretary of State, and how those experiences drive her view of the future.”

NXNE – North X Northeast, Toronto (June 13-22)

Celebrating its 20th year, NXNE combines music, art, film and comedy into a 10 day event across Toronto. For more information and a look at who is scheduled to appear, check out their website at nxne.com.

22 Jump Street Hits Theatres (June 13)

After the success of 2012’s 21 Jump Street, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return for the sequel, moving from high school to college as undercover agents Jenko and Schmidt. The first installment worked and the sequel looks to be more of the same. Whether that means more cameos from former other Jump Street cops (Richard Grieco anyone?) is unknown.

EA Sports UFC (June 17)

Fight fans, gamers and especially gamers that are also fight fans have been waiting for this bad boy for quite a while, as the unquestioned leader in mixed martial arts, the UFC, has finally teamed up with the undisputed champions of sports gaming, Electronic Arts, to deliver EA Sports UFC. Be on the lookout for a review of the game here on Among Men later this month.

Michael Buble’s To Be Loved Tour (June 19-20)

The Canadian crooner begins his trek across this great land with two nights at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on June 19 and 20. To find out if Buble will be blowing through your neck of the woods int he next couple weeks, check out his tour dates at michaelbuble.com/tour.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (June 26)

The battle between the Autobots and Decepticons returns to the big screen for a fourth time, but this latest installment brings two important changes: (1) no more Shia LaBeouf, who has been replaced in the lead role by Mark Wahlberg, and (2) the Dinobots finally are included. Since it’s Michael Bay, you know there’ll be plenty of explosions and action. Autobots… Roll Out!
