Following the massive success of its theatrical adaptation, Fifty Shades of Grey author, E. L. James, has penned a spin-off novel. Fans of the series won’t have to worry about some boring universe taking away the focus, nor will they have to wait very long for it to drop.

Titled Grey, the story will bet told through Christian Grey’s perspective (the original trilogy is told from Anastasia’s perspective) and will be released on June 18th via paperback and eBook.

“Christian is a complex character,” James said in a release from Vintage books. “And readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place — writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”

Grey is dedicated to “those readers who asked…and asked… and asked… and asked for this,” James says.

Super fans of the series will note that the release date is Christian’s birthday. Thanks for making our subway commute uncomfortable again, Mrs. James.
