WestJet Surprises Travellers In ‘Christmas Miracle’ Video

More than 250 passengers on Calgary-bound flights were part of a WestJet “Christmas miracle” that has gone viral and warmed hearts.

WestJet Christmas Miracle: real-time giving was posted by the Calgary-based airline on YouTube on Sunday and has since accumulated over 1,000,000 views.

In the viral video, passengers at Pearson International Airport in Toronto and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport were asked to share their Christmas wish with a ‘virtual’ Santa that appeared as they scanned their boarding passes. Meanwhile in a Calgary studio, WestJet employees record the requests and then rush to buy, wrap and deliver all the presents (everything from socks and underwear to a big-screen TV) to Calgary International Airport so they can fall out of the luggage carousel as the passengers arrive.

In a blog post explaining the ‘Christmas Miracle’ video, WestJet explains that once the video hits 200,000 views, it will give free flights to families in need.

WestJet is no stranger to holiday viral videos. Last year’s super fun Christmas flashmob takeover of an airport is still racking up views on YouTube.
