Nike has had quite the year. Out of all of the major athletic brands, the American institution has been on a tear these last few months thanks to some incredibly smart collaborations and company initiatives. Along with their high-profile partnerships, including capsules with Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and countless other celebs, executives have decided to be on the right side of history with their latest campaigns.
Last month, activist and NFL star, Colin Kaepernick, was chosen to spearhead incredible visuals that celebrated the outspoken player’s social justice efforts. Of course, not only did the powerful advert create awareness, but so too did it make Nike a ton of commercial revenue. According to Vox, the Kaepernick initiative pulled in roughly $6 billion for the brand. Naturally, and with such a roll going, it makes sense to see more inspirational marketing come out of Nike’s pipeline.
This time around, the focus is on NBA great LeBron James. Nike debuted a new short video this weekend, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s another awesome piece. In the minute-long ad, we see a teenaged and super composed LeBron answer questions at a press conference. Throughout the short’s duration, the young man deflects criticism and teases viewers by hinting at his impending greatness. If you’re a Lakers fan, the whole thing should give you goosebumps.
