The console wars are likely to heat up this spring, with the imminent launch of the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch. Along with this new hardware, fans of the Japanese brand will also get an amazing exclusive title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s the first entry in the long-running franchise since 2011’s Skyward Sword. For a while now, not much was known of the latest edition in the iconic series. We were, however, shown a bit of the game’s utilization of the Switch’s specs and cutting-edge gameplay design. In a recent interview with legendary Nintendo figurehead, Miyamoto, the game was promised to be an exciting and revolutionary experience. Of course, combat and exploration have an obvious and integral part in the game, but environmental mechanics will make the experience completely fresh and unique.

Now, reading all of this may get Zeldaheads excited, but words are no match for actual gameplay footage. Released earlier today is two godly minutes of Breath of the Wild, and while it’s weirdly unaccompanied by music, it’s still an incredible visual trip. In the teaser trailer, we see cool new character design, evil monsters, and the fiery destruction of a village. The whole thing is enough to make us throw our money at the screen and commit to a pre-order. If that’s something you plan on doing, make sure you mark March 3rd onto your calendars. Both the Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild will release on the aforementioned date. In the meantime, you can watch the clip again in all of its glory.
