Lock’em Or Leave’em: Our Predictions For Wild Card Weekend 2014

Above: Bengals Andy Dalton sets two franchise records against the Ravens

Luckily, we’ve only got 4 games to cast our vote on this weekend. As daunting as post-season looks, Our NFL analyst and sports bettor, Jeff Bjarnarson, is here to help you build back some coin after the usual post-Christmas bankruptcy.

Lock’em

In their last 17 games against Green Bay, San Francisco has only walked away with 3 wins. At home, when playing the 49’ers, Green Bay has won 8 of the last 9. This has the potential to be one of the coldest games in NFL history. Rodgers is back, and though he looked a little rough around the edges, I see Green Bay taking the W at home, with more experience playing in Arctic-like temperatures. Bettors, put a small play on Green Bay to win, but Lock in the OVER. Both teams have heavy, healthy offensive weapons and in the playoff scheme of things, both teams are 3-0 on the OVER heading into the playoffs.

Cincinatti (11-5) has been near-flawless at home, and on Sunday, they welcome the 9-7 Chargers. In their last 6 games, the Chargers have only won 2 against the Bengals. Expect the 3rd seed Bengals to trounce the 6th seed Chargers, who only made it into the playoffs due to some bad officiating. Lock Bengals.

Leave’em

New Orleans has been absolutely terrible on the road as of late, with their last road-win coming against the Falcons on Nov. 21st, 2013. Fortunately, they’re playing a team that has been terrible at home, merely winning 4 at home in the last 14. It’s hard to look at this match-up as the Saints and surprisingly playoff-bound Eagles have only played each other once in the last 5 years. I believe Payton and Brees devise a way to end their road weary woes, but my money ain’t touching this game!

Kansas City’s Overall Scoring (6th) vs Indianapolis’s Overall Defense (9th). Kansas City’s Road Passing (25th) vs Indianapolis’s Home Defense (23rd). The Chiefs (11-5) were the worst team in the league last year and are now playoff contenders. Luck’s luck seems to run out pretty quick in the post-season, but this is really anyone’s game. The UNDER might be where you’ll find value in this coin-toss.

Got a lock? Leave it in the comments below. Totally against our predictions? We’d love to hear from you! May you be among winners this weekend!
