Q & A: Bulldog Skincare For Men

Okay we’re just going to say it: Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof! Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof!

And then when they did, did they know it would result in a vegan skincare line for men? One that is complete with a face wash, moisturizer, shave gel, bamboo razor, aftershave balm, shower gel, deodorant and so much more. Lucky for us we got to see it all firsthand, straight from the doghouse with Brit Simon Duffy, the founder of Bulldog Skincare, as he as he dug deep to throw us this editorial bone.

Why Bulldog?
“The name Bulldog came from the concept of being a man’s best friend,” explains Duffy. “All our products were created for the specific needs of men. The Bulldog is also a national British icon and we’re a British born brand. The dog symbolizes pluck and determination, which also represents our work ethic.”

Why did you create a vegan line?
“We wanted to push boundaries to make it easy for men to look and feel their best. While we are purpose-built for men, it was important to myself and the co-founder of Bulldog Skincare that we always do things properly,” says Duffy. “Meaning, we wanted to create a product that doesn’t contain ingredients from any animal sources. Men can benefit because they’ve supported a cruelty-free brand that offer superb performance at affordable price.”

And now you have sugarcane packaging…
“Yes, because skincare product packaging is currently made from fossil fuels and non-renewable resources. Whilst they are being converted to plastic, they release carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming,” says Duffy. “Bulldog Skincare products have always been recyclable, however, we wanted to lessen our carbon footprint even more. The new generation of Bulldog tubes use plastic derived from Brazilian sugarcane. This is a renewable source that saves Co2. For every 100 tonnes of sugarcane plastic used in Bulldog tubes, 309 tonnes of Co2 are taken out of the environment.”

Why have you branched out into anti-aging skincare?
“Men are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of external aggressors on their skin, so we developed this range specifically for those who want to prevent premature skin aging,” explains Duffy. “For the first time ever, we’ve included a serum within the range, which is a sophisticated formulation that gives your skin an extra boost of antioxidants. This range is not only for the slightly older male, but also the savvy skincare consumer who wants to prevent skin aging too.”

What makes your shaving products different?
“Our Original Bamboo razor is unique because we focused on lowering its environmental impact,” says Duffy. “It features a natural bamboo handle and packaging that is made from fully recycled stock and environmentally-friendly inks. When you pair that with the Original Shave Gel, containing ethically sourced aloe vera, cameline oil and green tea, you have a knockout, eco-friendly shaving power duo.”

What sets Bulldog Skincare apart?
“We’re man’s best friend and we’re purpose built to help men look and feel their best,” says Duffy. “We care about doing things properly, so all our products contain brilliant natural ingredients and we combine these with carefully selected man-made ingredients to offer superb performance at affordable prices. We’re simple and straightforward, just like our distinctly British character.”
