Hip-hop and sneakers have always gone together like peanut butter and jelly. Since the dawn of the genre, artists have consistently celebrated, rocked, and rapped about the freshest kicks on the market. Vans knows this all too well, so the brand is turning the tables by acknowledging one of the greatest hip-hop groups of all-time with a brand new capsule. On April 6, the skatewear giant will release a line of new shoes that pay homage to legendary New York group, A Tribe Called Quest. In total, the capsule will boast colourful designs on six classic Vans silhouettes.
Along with the insanely popular Sk8-Hi model, Tribe designs will adorn other staples like the Old Skool and canvas Slip-On. Lyrics and imagery inspired by the group’s entire catalogue find a home on these slick pieces—stick figures, of course, also make a welcome appearance in the series. The collaboration will officially drop on April 6 at select stores and online retailers. If you’re lucky enough to be in Brooklyn this weekend, you can pick up an early pair at a pop-up event via House of Vans.
