Here’s How to Get Your Instagram Account Verified

If you fancy yourself a bit of a social media influencer, you may want to start taking some notes. After manually adding verification badges to its users, developers at Instagram are now allowing submissions from any and everyone. This is the first time the platform has accepted bids for its blue tick since the app’s inception all the way back in 2010 — wow, has it really been that long!?

In order to activate your shiny new tag, you’ll have to go into your setting tab and search for the “request verification” button. Once selected, you’ll be prompted to type in your full legal name and a piece of government identification. Of course, it’s important to note that being able to request a checkmark doesn’t necessarily mean anybody can get one.

Instagram has made it very clear that those deemed “notable public figures, celebrities, or global brand ambassadors”, will be at the top of the verification list. For those unable to attain verification, look on the bright side: the initiative will help everyone weed out fraudulent users and spam accounts. Regardless, if you think you meet the proper parameters, feel free to try it out now on your Instagram app. Also, be sure to update to the latest version of the app in order to utilize the feature.
