Our Five Favourite Fictional Girlfriends

Our Five Favourite Fictional Girlfriends

These unattainable women of television have teased and tempted our desires for years. From a shotgun-wielding tomboy in a post-apocalyptic town to a shallow rich girl who found her true self after the loss of her best friend, the five following characters have been selected for their ability to remain by their boyfriends’ sides no matter how dire the circumstance—and this is television, so things are pretty damn dire, like, all the time

Who: Tara Knowles

From: Sons of Anarchy (2008-present)

Why: Tara is the moral backbone of the SOA series and the girl who can’t help but fall for the bad boy in hopes that she can change him; which, as it sits currently, isn’t working out too well. Tara wants nothing more than for her biker husband to leave SAMCRO (the biker club where he is President) and move to Oregon where she and Jax can raise their two children, Abel and Thomas. Throughout the series, we see Tara evolve from a timid pushover to one of the more lethal characters—let’s not forget, this is a series revolving around a biker gang. She’s killed a number of people, (both accidentally and on purpose), has been taken hostage by a gang leader, managed to escape using a piece of broken mirror as a weapon, and stood her own against the scariest of criminals—all while giving birth to two children and receiving a promotion from Pediatric resident to Attending Surgeon at St. Thomas Hospital. She’s stayed with Jax through everything a relationship can possibly endure: infidelity, murder, jail, plans of assassination, lies, a broken hand—his fault—and her biggest threat: a mother-in-law only a Son could love.
