Our Five Favourite Fictional Girlfriends

Our Five Favourite Fictional Girlfriends

These unattainable women of television have teased and tempted our desires for years. From a shotgun-wielding tomboy in a post-apocalyptic town to a shallow rich girl who found her true self after the loss of her best friend, the five following characters have been selected for their ability to remain by their boyfriends’ sides no matter how dire the circumstance—and this is television, so things are pretty damn dire, like, all the time

Who: Maggie Greene

From: The Walking Dead (2010-present)

Why: Maggie is The Walking Dead’s one—and only—piece of eye candy, (come on, you know it’s true). She’s the something sweet that, week after week, reminds us that a life of flesh-eating zombies and long, drawn out dialogue might not be that bad. As beautiful as she is brave, Maggie’s heroic debut occurs in the series’ second season when she rescues Rick’s son Carl soon after he was shot. She brings both Rick and Carl to her family farm for medical attention from her father Hershel, who is a veterinarian. The courageous country girl then heads back into the woods in search for Carl’s mother, Lori, and brings her back to the farm on horseback (that means bouncing, people) after inviting the others to meet at the farm so the group of survivors can reunite. Perhaps Maggie’s boldest move however, was taking the reins in the abandoned pharmacy with Glenn, (who is now her fiancée), where, with no help from him, things get intimate; despite the apocalypse, the teenaged twosome used a condom. You raised a good girl, Hershel.
