Above: Model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne

Name: Cara Delevingne

Birthdate: August 12, 1992

Birthplace: London, England

Claim to fame: Cara has been known in recent years as being one of the top models in the world, appearing in shows for some of the world’s top fashion brands — winning the “Model of the Year” award at the British Fashion Awards in 2012 and 2014. She’s also been making a name for herself in the acting world as late, with her latest role as Enchantress in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

What we can see her in next: She stars in the lead role as Margo Roth Spiegelman in the film Paper Towns alongside Nat Wolff, which is due to hit theatres on July 24.

Interesting Fact: On top of being a model, actress and sometimes musician, Delevingne also is a contributing editor of the bi-annual British style publication, Love.

Best Quote: “What bothers me, I guess is when I get these messages from girls on Twitter and they’re like, ‘God, you’re my idol, I really admire you.’ It’s like, ‘Admire me for what? What have I done?’ It’s not being in a Burberry campaign, or walking in a Chanel show is nothing. It’s just…I know I can do more.”

“My dream is to spend a week on some island with no phone”.

Why We Love Her: Cara Delevingne, if you’ve as much as browsed the entertainment headlines recently, then you’ve certainly seen her name. This girl is everywhere right now. Not only has she been labeled as one of the top models the past few years, but also she’s recently been making a serious push to become one of the fastest rising young actresses in Hollywood. This top model isn’t simply just surviving and treading water in the acting world, she’s booking huge roles and earning rave reviews with every new movie she’s in that comes out.

She has six movies coming out in the next while, her soonest being Paper Towns in which she stars in the title role, and the biggest being 2016’s Suicide Squad, a DC comic book of the same name, which she plays the role of Enchantress and acts opposite some of the biggest names in the business such as Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Ben Affleck. This all seems a little hard to fathom considering that she only recent started appearing in film and television roles, and up until a few years ago, was nothing but an up-and-coming face in the modeling world, doesn’t it?

Well, Cara Delevingne, a self-professed tomboy seems kind of badass as she makes the whole acting thing look pretty darn easy. She just stumbled into the modeling world in 2009 when she was discovered by Storm Model Management president Sara Doukas, who seemed to throw her into the modeling world against her will — Delevingne was reluctant to get into modeling because she worried it cause havoc for her when she transitioned into the acting world. Cara definitely has substance and to seems to have always had plans to make it in the movie business. Which just shows how smart she is for running with the modeling thing for a while in order to build up her name and enough success that she could at least be given a shot to prove to people what she could do. And she’s definitely proven every bit of her worth.

But even with her disinterest in modeling, Delevingne has become one of the most sought after names in the industry. She’s walked in shows for some of the top brands such as Burberry, Mulberry, Dolce and Gabbana and Jason Wu. She’s also currently the face of Burberry’s beauty campaign. Not bad for a girl who just started walking down the runway for the hell of it and to earn a buck or two.

Now with her stock in movies rising by the minute, it seems only a mere matter of time before Delevingne drops the runway strut for real movie cred. The first step in that ascent and transition seems to be her huge role as Enchantress in David Ayre’s Suicide Squad, which judging by the leaked trailer footage, shows her in midst of her most commercially and critically acclaimed work yet.

This multi-talented Brit is definitely an entertainment news favourite right now, but for good reason, this girl just keeps rolling in the success. It’s sure going to be fun watching just how far she goes.

You can catch her in her latest film Paper Towns, in theatres everywhere on July 24.
