Woman Crush Wednesday: Jordana Brewster

Above: Jordana Brewster

Name: Jordana Brewster

Birthdate: April 26, 1980

Birthplace: Panama City, Panama

Claim to fame: She’s best known for her role as Mia Toretto in the Fast and the Furious film series.

What we can see her in next: She has a role opposite Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody in the film American Heist, which hits limited theatres in the US on July 24

Interesting fact: Her grandfather was the president of Yale University, where she graduated with a BA in English in 2003. Her mother is also a former Sports Illustrated model and appeared on the cover of the magazine in 1978. Geez, that’s what you call a high quality gene pool.

Best quote: “I’d love to be a Bond girl. I mean, if you’re going to be stereotyped, there are worse things to be stereotyped as.”

Why we love her: She’s the beautiful model/actress who came furiously onto the scene in the early 2000’s when the Fast and the Furious movies were just coming out and every girl in the country had Paul Walker as their screen saver. She joined the ranks of the late Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and others as they went the never-ending story of movie sequels. But hey, when the movies are entertaining and feature hot women, fast cars and wild chase scenes and earn millions at the box office, why not keep making more, right?

Brewster rose to sex symbol prominence throughout the film series playing Walker’s love interest. Even in real life, Walker admitted he had a crush on her throughout the years of making the films together. So this Latino beauty must be the real deal if she garnered admiration rom the late, great, Paul Walker.

Brewster was much more than a young girl desperately seeking fame and attention, as right after the conclusion of the first Fast and the Furious film, she went off to complete a BA in English at Yale University (her grandfather was actually the president of the school, so who knows if that played a part in attending the school or not. Jokes). After finishing school she rejoined the cast for all the sequels, and also began getting many reoccurring roles on various TV shows.

Her biggest film outside of the furious series was probably her role in the 2006 horror film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, for which she received a Teen Choice Award nomination for her performance. She also had a leading role in the television series Dallas, from 2012 to 2014, which also furthered her popularity outside of the commercial film series she’d broken through with.

Now, Brewster’s latest film, American Heist, which she stars alongside two actors who got to the top of the industry and fell off the other side, Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen, hits limited theatres in the US on July 24.

For those of you who were fans of The Fast and the Furious film series over the past decade and a half, Jordana Brewster likely was your celebrity crush at some point in time. And while she’s never quite been able to translate her popularity and success from those films into success with another film franchise or another commercial feature film, she’s seen much success in the TV world and has definitely milked everything she could out of those sequels. And for that, you gotta hand it to her, she’s a smart woman.
