Boys Don’t Cry: Recommended Albums If You Like Frank Ocean

It’s July, 2016. That means we haven’t heard new Frank Ocean music in four long years. That means it’s been 1460 days since the release of the incredible, Channel Orange. Even worse, we’ve had to suffer through months and months of hints at new music. Some of those teases have been coming from the man himself. We’ve received a few features, a terrific cover, but still, we’re all waiting for the next one.

The release of Boys Don’t Cry is becoming more and more imminent, and in the meantime, we’re slowly driving ourselves insane. To help combat the drought, we’ve thrown together a few R&B projects that we love and strongly recommend. If you love Frank Ocean, give them all a listen. Together, we can get through this.

MIGUEL – WILDHEART

Miguel’s third studio album is a terrific departure from his pop-oriented sophomore, Kaleidoscope Dream. Armed with some steamy, Prince-inspired vibes, Wildheart includes assists from Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco, and Raphael Saadiq. Miguel even threw shade at Frank last year, claiming that he “makes better music”. We can’t prove that right now, but Wildheart is terrific, and it’s definitely worth a listen.
