In Your Ears: Summer Music Picks

Above: Some of the summer's best albums

The month of August is, without fail, an amazing time for movie-goers. The same can’t always be said for music buffs. The summer heat tends to bring with it, a dry spell of new tunes. We have already been bombarded by the songs of the summer, which have dominated the radio since the beginning of the season. We understand that it may all start to blend into each other now, which is exactly why we've put this list together. If you’re tired of hearing the same three songs over and over again, then you need to check out these summer albums. With a few from different genres, you’re bound to find something up your alley.

Pop

Shura – Nothing’s Real

Shura has been a rising star in the UK for quite some time now. The songstress plays in an arena of multiple genres, channeling pop, new wave, and ambient vibes. Nothing’s Real is her first full-length project, and if you’re into 80s era chart-toppers, you’ve found a favourite new artist.

Tegan and Sara – Love You To Death

Tegan and Sara continue their hot streak of pop ready releases, with Love You To Death. Glitzy anthems like “Boyfriend” pick things up right where the Quin sisters left off. Their 2013 project, Hearthrob, garnered the duo a wave of new fans, and this follow-up will likely do the same.
