Watch the Very Dark Teaser for ‘Deadpool 2’

Around this same time last year, it seemed as if everyone was talking about Deadpool. The raunchy action flick dominated the box office, won over the hearts of millions, and became the surprise hit of 2016. Heck, it was so successful that it landed multiple nominations at the Golden Globes, including ones for best picture and best actor in a comedy or musical. Critics and fans alike loved the movie for its refreshing, incredibly dark, and entirely hilarious take on the modern superhero adventure; something that had been growing stale for a number of years now. Having established this all, it’s unsurprising to hear that Marvel and 20th Century Fox would make a sequel one of their top priorities.

We know that Deadpool 2 has been in the works for a few months now, but news from production made it sound quite very far away from hitting the big screen. Disputes over direction, casting, and narrative have been made relatively public. In fact, the only detail truly confirmed was that Ryan Reynolds would return in the titular role. In addition to having the Canadian stud back on board, there have been numerous rumours regarding the sequel’s new villain. As of now, that looks to be mutant baddy, Cable, and everyone from Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Stranger Things’ David Harbour have been tied to the role. While the film’s future may appear somewhat up in the air, its creators surprised everyone this weekend by debuting a brand new teaser.

The new two-and-a-half minutes feature Deadpool himself, patrolling a street and witnessing some people get into a tussle. What transpires next mimics the R-rated tone of the previous outing, and the whole thing is as silly as it is cringeworthy. You can watch the footage below via Ryan Reynolds’ personal YouTube account. If you plan on seeing the amazing Wolverine curtain call, Logan, you can catch this as a special theatre sneak peek.
