Actor (and professional lip syncer) Joseph Gordon-Levitt went full on “Rhythm Nation” during last night’s Christmas episode of Lip Sync Battle.

The 34-year-old actor emulated Janet Jackson’s iconic 1989 music video from her all-black military-style unifrom down to the one-of-a-kind choreography. Gordon-Levitt even recreated Jackson’s long ponytail and hat combination.

Gordon-Levitt was there to battle his The Night Before co-star Anthony Mackie (who performed MC Hammer’s ‘2 Legit 2 Quit’) in a head-to-head dance match and — sorry, Anthony — but JGL clearly won this battle.
