The Worst Video Game Movies Of All Time

This week, we were gifted with the new trailer for, Assassin's Creed. The action movie is yet another video game adaption to hit the big screen. Thankfully, from the brief glimpses we've received, it doesn't appear to be a total train wreck. Upon analysis, there are a couple of big things going for the flick. Firstly, Assassin's brings with it some serious star power. All of Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons, elevate the film from mere adaption, to legitimate blockbuster. The cast is supported by another notable name, Justin Kurzel. The Australian director has maintained a successful run of films, including 2015's Shakespearian drama, Macbeth.

If you're a fan of the video game franchise, you're praying for a successful and true, film adaption. Within the past decade, we've seen traditionally "nerdy" comic book films, debut to critical acclaim. The same, however, cannot be said of video game movies. While Assassin's Creed is hoping to turn the tide, it's hard to forget the plethora of video game duds. While we hope for the best, it's fun to reflect on the worst. Here are some of the worst video game adaptations of all time.

Doom (2005)

One of the coolest things about the Doom video game, is that it tackles a setting rarely touched by the industry. In the original instillment, players face off against demons from hell, who break out of a gateway in Mars. In the scariest way possible, it was refreshing. This is why it made little sense for the film version, to focus so much onto the space marine aspect of the story. There are plenty of space horrors being released, and an emphasis on the hellish monsters, would have been a safer bet. However, the real issue of the film, was the lack of plot and the boring action sequences.
