One of the world’s highest-paid actors is leaving Hollywood for a date in the ring. According to a new report from popular wrestling podcast, Barnburner’s Fired Up, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to return to WWE. That’s right, the People’s Champion himself will apparently suit up once again for a spot on the biggest stage in wrestling.

Fired Up host, Joe Peisich, claims that the Fast & Furious star is very close to signing a deal that would see him appear during Smackdown 1000, which airs just next month on October 16th. Wrestling fan or not, this would be a huge moment for entertainment, as The Rock rarely makes cameos during fight nights — the last time was during WrestleMania 32, which proved to be a massive pay-per-view event in 2016.

If you happen to follow the world of wrestling, you know that another legendary WWE fighter is also set to return for Smackdown 1000. Last month, the organization confirmed that The Undertaker would once again show his face, which is perhaps less exciting given that he retired just a year ago, back in April 2017. Of course aside from The Rock and The Undertaker’s comebacks, WWE has a few more tricks up their sleeves.

Smackdown 1000 will be highlighted with matches between Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz, Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy, and Samoa Joe vs. WWE Champion AJ Styles. Of course, those trio of fights will be outshined by any brief appearance from Dwayne Johnson, so it’s best to set your PVRs accordingly. In the meantime, listen to the Fired Up podcast for more context on the big night.
