5 Spring Trends From Gotstyle’s Melissa Austria

Spring is finally here! To help you figure out what you should be wearing this season, we've enlisted a little help from Melissa Austria, founder of Toronto's famed menswear boutique Gotstyle.

Wondering what all the stylish guys will be wearing this season? Well, Austria has picked five of spring 2013's strongest trends: colour, the new blue, plaid, the alternative bottom and the double breasted blazer, and offers up a little advice on how any guy (fashion-forward or more laid-back) can work them into his wardrobe.

Plaids are the new stripes

Suits fabrics have been dominated by stripes in recent years. Now there’s a new pattern in town, the plaid. Choose from a glen plaid to a windowpane to Price of Wales. This trend really works when it’s tone on tone so the plaid is more subtle, you just see the depth and sophistication of fabric when you get up close. Plaids easily match with solid contrasting shirts, stripes and you can even other plaids (just make sure one is bigger than the other). For the more daring and sartorial advanced, rock out a bolder plaid jacket with a pair of dark jeans.
